Lady Amherst' Pheasant (Chrysolophus amherstiae)

RANGE: Western China.
HABITAT:They live at higher altitudes and like bamboo thickets .
HISTORY:Leadbeater 1829.
DISCRIPTION: It is very beautiful, hardy, easy to keep and great for beginners. The most of the first imported Lady Amherst' pheasants to Europe were males. So the breeders used goldens' females.It is important to recognize the correct female of Lady Amherst's in stead of Goldens' females. These are the tips;
a) Goldens' legs are yellow. b)Goldens' females are smaller than the Lady Amherst's females. c)Lady Amherst's females' legs are green-gray.d) Golden females have no tinge of red in the crown.
AVAIRY POSITION:Well planted 9 m2 avairy.
FEEDING: Pellets, seeds, green food, live food.
BREEDING AGE: First year.
BREEDING SEASON: Mid April.
NUMBER OF EGGS IN A YEAR: 24-36 eggs.
INCUBATION PERIOD: 23-24 days.
